Considering the recent eco-friendly path the industry is taking, automotive schools are tailoring their programs to prepare students for the new jobs of the future.
Many automotive schools around the country are starting to train students for the "green-collar" jobs of the industry, according to Oregon City News. The new focus will teach students how to install and repair solar energy systems and work on hybrid, biodeisel or ever electric cars.
With consumers demanding more cars that are environmentally friendly, jobs in the automotive industry are becoming more in demand. Hybrid vehicles, or cars that run on both gas and electricity, are becoming more popular and working on those cars takes specialized skills that one can learn in automotive school.
Many programs will give hands on lessons to students, so they can receive on the job training.
“What you see around you is how you’re learning,” Alexander de Roode, a sustainability manager at an automotive school, told the news source. “Not just by sitting in a classroom.”
