Philadelphia's newest gambling establishment, the Valley Forge Casino Resort, has announced plans to recruit for hundreds of positions for those with food and beverage management training and workers who have completed a culinary arts program.
According to CBS affiliate KYW, the casino needs to fill food and beverage positions for seven new restaurants, along with a number of nightclubs, bars and lounges. The resort said it is looking for a range of positions including shift managers, cooks, restaurant servers and bartenders.
Meanwhile, more good news for those in the food and beverage industry. A new report by the Food and Beverage People Media Group has found that the sector accounted for nearly one quarter of the country's job growth during January 2012.
The association said that based on the latest data, the industry created 57,700 jobs in the first month of this year, which includes positions at food and beverage manufacturers, grocery stores, food services organizations, bars and restaurants.
The Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that employment opportunities for food service managers are expected to be best for those with an advanced two- or four-year degree in a related field.
