LGC Hospitality Staffing is looking to fill hundreds of temporary positions in Indianapolis ahead of Super Bowl Sunday.
The company told the Indy Star that it needs to fill 1,000 positions for the weeks leading up to the big day. Open positions are available for those with culinary management training, food and beverage management training, hospitality workers, customer services representatives and even those with massage therapy training.
Kathy Gjerde, an associate professor of economics at Butler University, told the news agency that while the temporary jobs may not have a lasting effect on the local unemployment rate, the experience may help long-time job seekers find permanent full-time work later.
Most of the jobs will pay from $9 to $17 an hour for work at Lucas Oil Stadium and other local NFL-related events at the Columbia Club, Skyline Club and major downtown hotels.
The Super Bowl is expected to add $213 million in direct wages and 5,000 jobs throughout the city.
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment opportunities for food service managers are expected to be good through the end of the decade, especially for those with an advanced degree in a related field.
