Although the doors of its newest establishment have not yet opened, Penn National Gaming said it will start to hire workers this spring to fill a number of position as it gets ready to open the new Hollywood Casino in Ohio later this year.

Penn National spokesman Bob Tenenbaum told NBC affiliate WCMH that the company wants to spread the word that it will need to hire and train 2,000 new employees for the new Columbus casino. The company will need a variety of skilled workers, including those with food and beverage management training and cooking school graduates, as well as those with business management training.

"There will be a lot of food service jobs, housekeeping positions, security, parking and your standard office functions, accounting and human resources," Tenenbaum said.

The company said it will also be partnering with local technical and community colleges to train and recruit potential casino employees.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment opportunities for food and beverage service managers are expected to be good through the end of the decade, with a growing number of establishments preferring managers with a two- or four-year degree in a related field.
