Bridgestone Retail Operations (BSRO) said it created more than 650 new jobs last year with the opening of 62 new automotive tire and service locations across the U.S.

The company said it expects to continue to add more workers with automotive technician training and other needed skills as it will open its 2,200th location within the next six months.

BSRO operates Firestone Auto Care, Tires Plus, ExpertTire and Wheel Works. Company president Matt Hoskins said the business is always looking for new employees to help drivers maintain their vehicles longer.

"Our people are our strength," Hoskins added. "As we grow our business we're creating a lot of great job opportunities for people who take pride in providing world-class customer service and want to work with an organization that's on the move and where they can grow their careers. We're looking for great teammates who want to grow with us."

According to a recent survey 70 percent of vehicle owners reported that they planned to drive their current vehicle for 150,000 or more miles.

The Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that employment opportunities for automotive service technicians are expected to be good for those with advanced postsecondary training.
