A number of new websites have recently begun to pop up on the internet specializing in helping those who have attended a culinary arts program find a good job in the restaurant and food services industries.
Since last year, four new sites have debuted that focus on the restaurant business including 86 List, Culintro, Eater Jobs and Good Food Jobs.
Taylor Cocalis, co-founder of Good Food Jobs, said her website has posted approximately 2,400 jobs over the past year with dozens more added every week. The site is focused on sustainability and includes jobs at farms and nonprofits, as well as restaurants.
Meanwhile, many restaurant managers in Maryland and the Midwest have starting using the video interview website JobOn, which allows culinary candidates to post recorded responses to standard interview questions.
Jody Presti, chief executive officer of JobOn, said the site is helping busy managers in their search for the perfect candidate since they can schedule a convenient time to watch prospective employees without cutting into peak customer dining hours.
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, job opportunities for chefs, head cooks and food preparation supervisors are expected to be good, growing by 6 percent, through 2018.
