There is still a need for lab techniciansIndividuals who are looking for a career path with job security may consider enrolling in phlebotomy training, as a new report suggests that laboratory technicians will be in demand in the near future.

The area of Birmingham, Alabama, is expected to require 108,000 clinical technologists and technician jobs by 2018, according to the Birmingham Business Journal. Because of this need, many schools in the area are beginning to offer more phlebotomy training opportunities.

However, it is still a good idea for any individual with phlebotomy training to try their luck at the job market in the area. In addition to being in demand at private facilities, laboratory technicians will be needed in physicians” offices as well.

"The profession is currently experiencing a 10 percent vacancy rate, and 13 percent of the current professionals are likely to retire in the next five years, creating widespread opportunities for jobs across the country," Janelle Chiasera, director of Clinical Laboratory Sciences at a local school, told the news provider.
