Many believe that the food industry is booming. Culinary arts programs are abundant all around the country, and while some people may be curbing their spending habits, everyone still needs to eat.
Despite Elkhart County, Indiana, having a high unemployment rate, it recently held a culinary job fair as there are many career opportunities in the field, according to WSBT News .
It was also reported that several of the townspeople feel that the culinary industry may have them considering new business ventures.
"I”ve been looking for a job here recently and I actually plan on going to school in January for business management to actually open a restaurant," Logan Bourdon, a Elkhart County resident, told the news source. "Some people could look at the food industry because there are multiple employment opportunities with that."
Elkhart County isn”t the only one to think the field will prosper. The Bureau of Labor Statistics suggest that the demand for culinary workers will increase by 11 percent until 2016. The highest increasing job prospects are for food preparation workers, who will enjoy a 15 percent jump in demand.
