Though many associate being a chef with long hours and tough customers, some gourmets pair their passion for good food with their business skills to run their own company.
Pairing a culinary arts training program with culinary management training or an online business management degree can allow students to be their own boss and pursue their dreams.
Chef Clay Wilson recently moved back to his home town of Fort Worth, Texas where he and his wife Michelle started up their own catering company, called Wilson Caters, according to the Fort Worth Business Press.
Wilson always enjoyed cooking at home, but when he got to cooking school he took his passion to the next level. "When I got into it at cooking school, I enjoyed the chemistry of it," the chef told the news source.
Though their company is on a tight budget, the Wilsons are searching for the perfect spot to open their own barbecue restaurant.
"I have the name for it, it’ll be Wilson Barbecue," he told the paper. "But until we can find the right place we’ll continue to do catering."
